the “who”

MNTN makes ad-tech software that allows brands of all sizes to get their commercials on streaming television (also known as Connected TV). It’s also home to QuickFrame, a creative services hub that matches brands with independent creators, and (until recently) Maximum Effort, the marketing agency co-founded by Ryan Reynolds.

the “what”

As the organization’s sole Content Editor, I was MNTN’s “brand voice czar.” Here’s what that entailed:

  1. Implementation and Editorial Leadership
    In my first year, I developed, implemented, and routinely maintained the MNTN Style Guide, a 50+-page document used by the entire organization to this day. It includes guidance like:

    • a basic introduction to brand voice and tone

    • in-house style preferences

    • how to use the company’s trademark terms

    • when and how to use jargon

    • a primer on ethical and cultural sensitivity in brand writing

  2. Education and Enablement
    I conceptualized and conducted in-house training sessions for external-facing teams like Customer Success and Sales on topics like the MNTN Style Guide, brand voice and tone in general, and fundamental copywriting principles.

  3. Content Production
    I also worked closely with a team of content and product marketers, reviewing and editing a high volume of external-facing B2B copy for brand voice and tone, clarity, and overall coherence across MNTN brands. That included:

    • Blogs (SEO, sponsored content, etc.)

    • Research reports, whitepapers

    • Email marketing campaigns (dedicated and in-house)

    • Paid and organic social

    • Internal educational materials

    • Invites and decks for webinars and events

    • Podcast and video ad scripts

    • UX copy and product notifications

    • Sales email messaging

    • Customer success chats

  4. Strategic Brand Messaging
    Finally, I did a lot of strategic collaboration across product, legal, creative, and design teams to guide messaging on product launches and other major campaigns with complex technical and data components.
